Meat Your Host Ana Mael
Ana Mael is a Somatic Experiencing Therapist (Msc, SEP, TEB,TST), Nervous System Specialist, and founder of the Somatic Trauma Recovery Center and Exiled & Rising Podcast. She specializes in working with individuals who have experienced complex trauma, war trauma, systemic oppression and exile.Â
Born into war and displacement, Ana survived three wars and years of statelessness, navigating forced migration, identity erasure, and profound loss. These experiences did not just shape her perspective—they forged her expertise. She knows, firsthand, the physiological cost of survival and the monumental resilience of the human nervous system.Â
Ana’s work is grounded in cutting-edge neuroscience, attachment theory, IPNB, and embodied trauma healing. She is known for:
- Reframing dissociation as a survival ally rather than a pathology, allowing clients to honor their nervous system’s intelligence rather than fight it.
- Naming and deconstructing the wound of non-existence, helping people reclaim space in a world that conditioned them to disappear.
- Bringing depth, honesty, and scientific rigor to trauma recovery, challenging mainstream healing models that ignore the complexity of survival.
- Somatic Justice — A healing space that centers the nervous system and systemic injustice.
- Truth Without Apology — Real stories. Real life. Real healing.
- Spiritual Grounding Without Bypassing

Her work is sought after by therapists, trauma survivors, and those who feel exiled from their own bodies, histories, and communities.Â
Through Exiled and Rising, Ana is not just educating—she is leading a movement for those who were never meant to survive but did. And now, it’s time to rise.
Â
As a bestselling author, Ana’s book, The Trauma We Don’t Talk About, became a #1 bestseller in over 10 categories, including Mental Health, Personal Testimonies, and Memoirs. Her work is not just about healing trauma—it is about giving voice to the erased, the unseen, and those conditioned to yield.
Ana’s approach to trauma recovery is deeply somatic, relational, and grounded in nervous system science. She specializes in helping survivors move beyond cognitive understanding into embodied healing, where they can reclaim space, rebuild self-trust, and restore their sense of belonging in the world.
Based in Toronto, Canada, Ana works directly with clients and educates mental health professionals and counselors on the complexities of displacement, exile, and war trauma recovery. She leads training programs, provides trauma-informed therapy, and conducts pioneering research to bridge the gap between somatic therapy and global crisis trauma care.
